Refund policy
At Nihon-Gawa, eligible items are subject to a 14-calendar-day withdrawal period starting on the day following their receipt.
In the case of an order containing several items delivered separately, this period begins on the day following receipt of the last item. Exceptions to the right of withdrawal are specified below.
Returns
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision before the expiry of the 14-day period, without having to provide any reason.

You may use the standard withdrawal form available at the end of this policy or send us any other written statement clearly expressing your wish to withdraw.
To facilitate the processing of your request, please provide your order number and the items concerned.
After informing us of your decision, you must return the items concerned to us within a maximum period of 14 calendar days to the following address:

We will provide you with the necessary instructions for making the return.
In the case of a simple change of mind, the direct cost of returning the items is borne by the customer. It is advisable to use a shipping method that allows you to retain proof of postage and parcel tracking.
When the return is due to an item being damaged, defective, non-conforming or sent in error, the necessary return costs are borne by Nihon-Gawa.
The item may be handled to the extent necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and proper functioning. It must be returned with all its accessories and, where possible, in its original packaging.
You may be held liable for any reduction in the value of the item resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to examine it.
Simply returning an item without a statement clearly expressing your wish to withdraw does not allow the return to be treated as an exercise of the right of withdrawal.

Damage and issues
Please inspect your order as soon as you receive it and contact us as soon as possible if an item is defective, damaged, does not conform to its description or if you have received the wrong item.
To enable us to assess the situation quickly, we may ask you for your order number as well as photographs of the item and its packaging.
We will then inform you of the applicable solution and, if necessary, the return procedure.
This procedure does not limit your rights under the statutory guarantees of conformity and against hidden defects.
Exceptions or non-returnable items
In accordance with Article L. 221-28 of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal does not apply, in particular, to goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised.
The right of withdrawal also does not apply to the supply of newspapers, periodicals or magazines, except under subscription contracts for such publications.
Accordingly, the following products are considered final purchases and cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded due to a simple change of mind:
- magazines sold on pre-order
- monthly boxes consisting of magazines, when sold as one-off products and not as subscriptions
In an order containing both a pre-order magazine or a box and other products, this exclusion applies only to the magazine or box concerned. Other eligible items retain their right of withdrawal.
The fact that an item is sold at a discount or presented as a final sale does not, in itself, remove the statutory right of withdrawal where it remains applicable.
These exclusions do not limit the customer's rights where the item is damaged, defective, non-conforming, sent in error or not delivered.

Exchanges
To obtain a different item following a change of mind, you may exercise your right of withdrawal for the eligible item and then place a new, separate order.
If the item received is damaged, defective, non-conforming or different from the one ordered, contact us directly so that we can offer you an appropriate solution without requiring you to make a new purchase immediately.
Cancellations
For items that are not excluded from the right of withdrawal, you may request cancellation of your order before it is shipped.
We will do our best to process your request, but cancellation can no longer be guaranteed if preparation or shipment of the order has already begun. This does not limit your statutory right of withdrawal where it applies.

Magazine pre-orders and monthly magazine boxes sold as one-off purchases constitute final purchases once payment has been confirmed. They cannot be cancelled at the customer's request due to a simple change of mind.
If supply becomes impossible or the supplier confirms insufficient stock, Nihon-Gawa may cancel the magazine concerned and issue a full refund.
If one of the four magazines required to make up a monthly box cannot be obtained, Nihon-Gawa may cancel the entire box and fully refund the corresponding amounts.
In a mixed order, cancellation of an unavailable magazine does not automatically result in cancellation of the other available items. The customer will be informed of the situation and may be contacted when a decision regarding the remainder of the order is required.
14-day right of withdrawal in the European Union
When your order is shipped within the European Union, you have, for eligible items, a 14-calendar-day right of withdrawal, without having to provide any reason for your decision.
For an order concerning several goods delivered separately, the period begins on the day following receipt of the last item. For a contract providing for the regular delivery of goods over a defined period, the period begins on the day following receipt of the first item.
To exercise this right, you must send us, before the expiry of the period, the standard form available below or any other written statement clearly expressing your wish to withdraw.
The return procedure, applicable costs and refund conditions are those set out in this policy.
This right does not apply to products covered by a statutory exception, including magazines sold on pre-order and one-off boxes consisting of magazines. The exception applicable to magazines does not apply to subscription contracts for such publications.
Refunds
When you validly exercise your right of withdrawal, we will refund the amounts due to you in accordance with the applicable regulations, including the initial standard delivery costs where these must be refunded.
Any additional costs resulting from your choice of a more expensive delivery method than the standard delivery method offered will not be refunded.
The refund will be made without undue delay and no later than 14 calendar days from the date on which you inform us of your decision to withdraw.
We may defer the refund until we have recovered the returned items or until you provide us with proof that they have been shipped, whichever occurs first.
The refund will be made using the payment method used for the order, unless you expressly agree to another payment method that does not incur any fees for you.
The time required for the refund to appear in your account may then vary depending on your bank or payment service provider.
